As we learn to love and take care of ourselves, we discover that we are WORTHY of getting our needs met. When others take advantage of us, or do behaviors that we are not ok with, before self-love and believing that we are worthy and valuable, we often don’t know what to do or how to protect ourselves. We want so desperately to be in relationship with the people who are hurting us, that we are willing to let them abuse and hurt us. As we begin to love ourselves, and take care of our own needs, we realize we don’t “need” them in the same way, and we are able to stand up to them and create boundaries for ourselves. We learn to feel our own value, worth, and anger, giving us the power to stand up to others and take care of ourselves.
